Grand Opening of New Park Apartments in Connecticut
After more than year of construction, NHT-Enterprise, in partnership with Trout Brook Realty Advisors, completed the construction of New Park Apartments in West Hartford, CT! The new multifamily affordable housing community replaces a dilapidated commercial building and is partially restricted for supportive housing for veterans experiencing chronic homelessness.
New Park Apartments includes 54 units, a mixture of one- and two-bedroom units ranging in size. Thirty-two apartments are earmarked for those who earn 60 percent or less of the area median income, 11 units are for veterans, with the remaining 11 to be rented at market rates.
New Park is just one small step in the fight to provide safe, healthy and stable affordable housing to those nearly 50,000 veterans without a home. The veterans living at New Park have access to special services including vocational and employment support, veteran benefits and other entitlements, as well as family counseling referrals. The Veterans’ Affairs (VA) Healthcare System provides medical, mental health and substance abuse treatment for all VA eligible veterans. New Park also serves as West Hartford’s first transit-oriented development, built right next to the Elmwood CTfastrak station.
