Mass Place Organizes Successful Back to School Drive
As summer came to a close this August, Mass Place began gearing up for its annual Back to School supply drive. Recognizing that the high cost of back-to-school supplies and the uniforms required by DC Public Schools can stretch a family’s limited budget, the drive asks community members, local vendors, staff and others to donate supplies for the grade school kids living in the community.
Thanks to the overwhelming support and dedication of the community, Mass Place was able to donate every single item on each kid’s back-to-school lists, ranging from Kindergarten all the way to 12th grade. In total, 34 kids were served at the back-to-school party where donations were distributed.
“I want to let everyone know that this is a real help to parents who would otherwise have a hard time affording and searching for supplies,” says Karla Ferrel-Castillo, Manager at Mass Place Apartments. “This assistance freed them up to purchase required uniforms and shoes for their kids. On behalf of our residents, thank you so much for your support and donations. I know the smiles on these faces say it all. THANK YOU!!!!!”
