Derek Brown joined the National Housing Trust in 2024 as a Loan Analyst. He works with the Lending Team to assist with underwriting and support loan closing processes for NHT’s two loan funds, the National Housing Trust Community Development Fund (NHTCDF) and Institute for Community Economics (ICE).

Prior to joining NHT full-time, Derek completed various internships in the affordable housing space, including NHT in addition to other affordable housing developers in the D.C. metropolitan area. His interest in affordable housing stems from a commitment to a greater public good, as well as a desire to generate high-impact solutions to complex problems facing marginalized communities.

Derek graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, as well as minors in Public Policy and Urban Planning.
