Hazel Hill Hosts Successful Health Fair
At Hazel Hill Apartments, we’re proving how community health can bridge the gap between healthy living and affordability. This October, Hazel Hill Health Care Project hosted an onsite health fair with more than 15 health-related vendors – providing residents with free health screenings, information on how they can obtain insurance that relate to their needs, and an introduction to the many healthcare providers in their community.
During this event, residents connected with health providers that are committed to working within the community to encourage healthy lifestyles and, ultimately, reduce health-related expenditures. Vendors included United Way, Hope House, local emergency response teams and additional providers focused on providing affordable health options to low-income communities. Residents received resources regarding mental health, dental services, senior services, substance abuse and domestic violence. The fair was enjoyed by all ages and allowed residents to plug into the numerous healthcare options locally available.
While the health fair was a one-day event, the Hazel Hill Healthcare Project hosts two onsite nurses at Hazel Hill Apartments. The nurses provide pre-primary care, first aid and health advice specifically for residents of Hazel Hill. This allows residents to receive continued assistance as it relates to healthy living.
This event would not have been possible without the commitment and dedication of the Hazel Hill Health Care Project nurses, the on-site management staff and resident services coordinator – all of whom worked to coordinate this event for the community.
