NHT Helps La Unión Buena Vista Tenants Association Take Their First Steps in TOPA Process
The La Unión Buena Vista Tenants Association has been campaigning and fundraising for two years to prepare for their building going through DC’s Tenant Opportunity to Purchase Act (TOPA) process. The 34-unit building is in Columbia Heights, a rapidly gentrifying neighborhood in DC that is the heart of the City’s Central and South American community. We provided the Association with its first capital investment, a loan to cover an Earnest Money Deposit. With the goal of converting into a limited equity co-op, the Association is in the next stage of the TOPA process and is raising money for critical repairs as they apply for financing.
