NHT Welcomes Release of PLCC Distressed Properties Roadmap
National Housing Trust welcomes the release of the “Two Year Roadmap,” co-authored by Moha Thakur, Public Policy Manager. As a member of the Purple Line Corridor Coalition (PLCC), NHT continues to expand access to economic opportunity and preserve valuable affordable housing for residents and small business owners along the Purple Line. The Two Year Roadmap offers a pathway to safe, healthy, and affordable housing options for tenants currently living in distressed and aging properties along the Purple Line corridor in Prince George’s County. It includes an analysis of conditions, multiple funding alternatives, and action-oriented recommendations for public and private sector collaboration, intervention, and resource investment for any distressed property.
NHT’s continued collaboration with the PLCC also includes the creation of a lending pool of over $11.1 million to support the preservation of affordable housing. By November 2021, NHT Lending had closed on 5 affordable housing properties, preserving 442 affordable housing units to ensure affordable housing opportunities along the Purple Line.
